TREE of the day — Acer (Maple)


Commonly known as the maple tree, acer is a genus of trees or shrubs.   In Canada, the coat of arms features the maple leaf.  And, the picture on the Canadian flag is the maple leaf.

The maple tree is a symbol of endurance and strength.  From the maple tree, there is a sticky sap which becomes maple syrup. 

There are many types of maple trees including the silver maple, the sycamore maple and also, the red maple. The type of species of the genus Acer pseudoplatanus is the sycamore maple.  The colorful (red maple) flowers of the maple tree Acer rubrum is so reminiscent of trees in colder climates.
